Is Your Facebook Fan Page Really Doing Anything For You?
A Facebook fan page can do a lot for you or can just sit and really do nothing for you at all. Before you can use it for your good though, you have to decide what you really
want it to do for you. Most use it for branding and lead capture. If this is the case then you have to understand that the quality of fans is more important then the quantity. If you are a network marketer it really does you no good to have someone like your page who’s only interest in life is getting his CD produced. If your trying to produce leads or brand yourself doing page like exchanges to drive your numbers up is just a waste of time.
The goal for a page is to drive traffic to it and have an appealing opt in to get leads just like an opt in on a blog to help build your list. The difference with a page is even if they don’t opt in you still have an audience to interact with. It’s usually a one way interaction with the followers receiving.
I get about 15 to 25 new followers a week. My two primary methods of driving traffic to my page is through a DM on new followers from twitter. When they follow it simply asked them to come connect with my on Facebook, and the other method is having a link in my “works at” profile on my Facebook profile that people can click when I connect with them. My twitter DMs are automated to automatically send DMs to my new followers. I have two DMs set up, one that sends them to my profile and one that sends them to my page, and they are sent out randomly. So even if they go to my profile there is a link there to go to my page.
Facebook made some changes at the beginning of the year to where if you type in your fan page in your edit portion of your work profile it links it to a generated community fan page. But there is a way around it to still get it to link to your fan page. To get a step by step guide go here Is Your Facebook Fan Page Showing In Your Work Profile?, it doesn’t take very long at all.
If you have traffic going to your page you want to do your best to turn them into leads or put them on your list with an opt-in. The same goes for the opt-in here as on a blog, make your opt in something that is irresistible, not “sign up for my news letter or something about your company.” It needs to be something they feel like they need to help them, some kind of free training. If you are in MLSP you have many to choose from. Here is one that I have on a free webinar given in MLSP by a top income earner, that everyone knows by now, on getting free leads.
To get this webinar they have to click the like button and then it directs to a page were they opt in for the free webinar.
To do this you have to have a Facebook ap called “static html”. Just type that in the search and accept the ap for your page. Then it is all just html, if you don’t know html go to google and type in html and there is all kinds tutorials on html. Html looks a lot harder then it really is, I put four of these different trainings up on my page one morning awhile back. I can rotate them to which one I want to be my welcome page and they other are still on the side in the menu for them to click on and opt in to get different free training webinars. If you want to do more then one you have to have more static html aps and they have to be the next number. Example after you have one done go back to the search engine and type in “static html2″ and accept that app, and then “static html3″, and so on.
Once you have fans don’t use your page just to spam. Facebook all together really does not do very good at all just leading out all over with your business opportunity, fan page or profile. Even though a page is primarily one way interaction you can still interact in a way to keep peoples attention with content and then every once in awhile through a pitch out there but not very often.
If you really want to up your game on Facebook and turn it into a cash machine then watch this presentation right on Facebook here.

Thank you for the reminder Michael. I seriously need to get over there and beef up my page some. Yours is looking quite nice by the way.
Thanks Bill
Great article, Just wondering how you set up automated DM’s on twitter? Thanks (:
Thanks for the comment Dusty. I use social oomph for 1 account and tweet adder for the other five.
